About Buyer's Ledger
Buyer's Ledger is an independent publication of practical guides on procurement and supply chain management. It covers the everyday mechanics of the job (sourcing events, contract terms, supplier performance, spend data) and the rules that increasingly shape it, from Incoterms to public procurement law and supply chain due diligence.
How the guides are written
- Each guide answers one practical question and explains the method, not just the vocabulary.
- Legal and standards content is checked against the primary text: the official legislation, the standard-setting body or the regulator. Links point to those sources.
- No figure is published without a source that can be checked. Where something depends on jurisdiction, contract or date, the guide says so.
- Software is described by category and capability. The site does not rank vendors, publish prices or accept paid placements.
- Guides are dated, and updated when the underlying rules change. Nothing here is legal advice: for a specific contract or compliance decision, consult a qualified adviser.
About this domain
From around 2020 until 2025 this domain hosted The Purchaser, a magazine for procurement and supply chain executives produced by the UK publisher Stroud & Clarke, with digital issues, executive interviews, features and an events listing. Buyer's Ledger is a new and unrelated publication: it has no connection with that magazine, its publisher or the people it featured, and none of its texts, images or issues are reproduced here. Old links to former magazine pages lead to the closest guide on this site, or to the home page.
Corrections
Procurement rules move, as the UK Procurement Act showed. Report an outdated rule or a wrong figure through the contact page; once verified against the primary text, the guide is corrected. The company publishing Buyer's Ledger is named in the legal notice.
